A FEW WEEKS ago Sam finished his day earlier than we anticipated which left us with an afternoon together as a family in a new-to-us city wondering what to do. Sam had been recommended to check out the Evergreen Brickworks. What a fabulous place! Formally a brick masonry, they have restored the deteriorating heritage buildings and created an environment that showcases green design and urban sustainability. Not only is this place beautiful with so much to see, it is also incredibly kid friendly.
Located near the Don Valley Parkway there are 40 acres of green space (formerly a clay and shale quarry) that is maintained by Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation with trails and ponds to explore. Finny saw his first turtle here!
There are farmer's markets on the weekend, an adorable café with delicious homemade buttermilk biscuits (get them, you won't regret it), a boutique shop with tons of great things for kids and adults alike, an ice rink in the winter, and a children's garden + so much more! We only spent 3 hours there and barely scratched the surface of all there is to do.
