I WANTED TO share a really special project with you guys. I was contacted by Dine Alone Records to do a review for a new album of children's lullabies that they have put out. This album, unlike most lullaby records, is a compilation of familiar songs from some of my favourite artists that have been transformed into really beautiful and soothing melodic lullabies by Casey Cole of Sparrow Sleeps. My favourite part about this project is that all, yes, ALL proceeds will be donated to SickKids Foundation.
A blurb from Dine Alone Records about the album:
Dine Alone Records is proud to announce a very special album of children’s lullabies, featuring 16 tracks from some of the label’s best-loved artists. Casey Cole, of Sparrow Sleeps, has transformed familiar songs from City and Colour, Alexisonfire, Arkells, Jimmy Eat World, and many more into soothing and beautifully haunting soundscapes that children and parents alike will enjoy for years to come. The album will be available via iTunes as of December 4, as well as on CD through Dine Alone Records webstore and in various record stores including HMV. All proceeds will be donated to SickKids Foundation to support the highest priority needs at the hospital so staff can continue to provide exceptional care.
This is a great cause and combines three of the things I am most passionate about: music, kids and health. I will be honest with you, when Finn was a baby I found that he would listen to whatever music I was listening to. I wasn't interested in listening to Mary Had a Little Lamb or Rock A Bye Baby and I was seeking some sense of normalcy while experiencing the million changes that becoming a first time parent brings. This time around though, I can definitely see myself playing this record for baby #2 since they are songs that I know and love and will be soothing to our little one.
